The WHO Global Status Report on Road Safety 2026 estimates 1.19 million traffic deaths annually, and even with around 68% of new cars globally now equipped with ADAS features, the real-world impact remains limited. The problem isn't effort, it's approach. Rule-based ADAS systems are rigid and reactive, while end-to-end AI systems are powerful but unpredictable and hard to trust. Both demand high compute and struggle to scale.
